Our Story

Deadwood Services was founded in 2018 by James Mills, a retired police officer who began with a small stump grinding operation right here in Weatherford, Texas. What started as a part-time project quickly grew into a respected, full-service tree care company thanks to James’s quality workmanship, honesty, and reputation for treating every customer like a neighbor.

As demand grew, so did Deadwood. Today, the company is owned and operated by Randall Strickmeyer, who continues to build upon the solid foundation James established. Randall grew up on a ranch in Kentucky, where he developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. After moving to Texas in 2020, he saw the opportunity to expand Deadwood into a trusted local brand known for professionalism, safety, and personal service.

Though James has since retired, he remains an advisor and advocate for the company, ensuring the same values and standards that built Deadwood remain at the heart of everything we do.
